Traverses – handling of unusual loads

Lifting beams are auxiliary equipment for cranes and cranes. . . These are simple constructions, usually double-tracks, which are very easy to use.

Each lifting beam is tailored to the customer’s requirements. Configurations with a capacity of up to 10 tonnes are available.

When should a lifting beam be used?

Which companies can use lifting beams? The answer is: any company. They are most common in heavy industry, including steelmaking, metallurgy, shipbuilding, welding and construction. However, they are also used by many manufacturing and transport businesses, including food, cosmetics, furniture and logistics companies. Lifting beams are designed for loads whose shape makes them unsuitable for handling with a conventional sling or hook. Such loads can be found in almost any business.

These lifting beams are designed for long loads that require several secure attachment points. Whether raw materials, semi-finished goods or finished parts, examples include vehicle body parts, bags of bulk material, drums, baskets of metal products, railway components such as carriage doors, rods, heads, cable reels, sheets of metal and wide semi-finished products.

These materials are suspended from the lifting beam so that they can be supported, lifted and moved to their destination. It is impossible to list every type of load that can be transported. Simply put, the possibilities are enormous.

Another advantage of lifting beams is the option to mount this attachment on forklift forks.

The traverses will work well in places where the height to the crane hook is too small to handle the cargo safely.

Traverses enjoy a large “popularity” at BigBag-type bags. As a result, the worker not only transports the contents of bags, but can also fill and empty them.

The configuration of the lifting beam largely depends on what is being lifted in the bags. Working environments vary considerably between facilities, so standard models cannot be used everywhere. To meet these requirements, lifting beams are also available in stainless steel or aluminium, as well as adjustable versions with automatic hooks.

Trays Configurations

Traverses are available in many configurations. It depends on the type of company and how cargo is to be manipulated.

The T-beam lengths, additional points beneath the central lifting eye and number of hooks can be adjusted. Movable load attachment points can also be added. Three-arm and four-arm lifting beams are available, and the number of attachment points can be configured.

There are different ways of hooking up the cargo. We can hang the target element on hooks, welded hooks, holes, double holes. If necessary, hooks are replaced with scarves which are mounted on a special connector.

There are also several ways to suspend a lifting beam: from a central or end lifting eye, from a sling, or from an adjustable suspension point.
