How do cranes contribute to the optimization of production processes?
In modern industry, the challenge remains efficient management of internal logistics, especially in the context of heavy and bulky transport of materials. Traditional methods, requiring the direct involvement of workers, are not only time-consuming, but also incriminating to health. The use of modern cranes such as cranes, cranes or mobile cranes is crucial to increase operational efficiency and ensure safety in production facilities.
Application of lifting equipment in industry
Lifting equipment offers significant benefits for internal logistics, especially in heavy industry, where large machines and structural components must be moved. Using vacuum lifters, plate clamps, lifting magnets, wire rope slings, webbing slings or loading forks with a jib crane or overhead crane enables materials to be loaded, moved and unloaded quickly. This can replace the manual work of several employees, reducing labour costs and improving safety.
Optimisation of production processes
The integration of cranes into production processes brings decisive benefits in terms of performance and time to carry out tasks. For example, cranes used in production plants are able to carry large loads directly onto assembly lines, which eliminates the need for manual handling of components and reduces installation time. In addition, the precise positioning of heavy components, such as injection molds in the plastics industry, becomes less risky and more efficient.
Examples of PS Lift implementation
Track crane 1 250 kg
An example of effective use of crane devices is the implementation for the leader in the production of trailers in Poland, which is also one of the biggest players in Europe. For this permanent customer, PS Lift has supplied and installed a 1 250 kg overhead crane, which will be used to pack the trailers and stack them one by one.
The project included not only the delivery of the crane, but also a support structure and two electric chain hoists. Thanks to the use of the inverter, the driving speed is stepless, which guarantees smooth movement and precise positioning of loads.
Technical parameters of the crane:
- Load capacity: 1 250 kg
- span: 5 000 mm
- Track length: 14 500 mm
- Overall height: 5 300 mm
- Driving bridge: electric
- Powering along the track: rail line
- Powering along the bridge: c-rail
- Lifting height: ~4 500 mm
Mobile crane with counterweight electric
Another innovative project carried out by PS Lift is a mobile crane with counterweight for an airline company. The counterweight design eliminated the need for a chassis (front legs), which significantly facilitates manoeuvring with the device even at full load. Electrical arm motion control, including lifting, lowering and extrusion, ensures precise control of the operation. In addition, the crane is equipped with a system to prevent overload, which triggers a mechanism blocking movement up and down.
Technical parameters of the crane:
- Load capacity: 500 kg
- Maximum load at fully extended arm: 200 kg
- Arm range: 2,740 mm
- Column turnover: 210°
- Turn of arm: electric
- Two speeds: 1.5/3 km/h
- Invented weight: ~1 100 kg
Safety and ergonomics
Enhancing safety is one of the most important aspects of the use of cranes. The employees operating these machines focus on monitoring and process control, which significantly reduces the risk of accidents and injuries associated with manual handling of heavy loads. Moreover, the ergonomics of the workplace are improved as workers are no longer burdened with heavy physical work, which translates into their health and reduced days of illness.
Expert opinions
Expert from PS Lift, Bartosz Marynowski, emphasises: “Investing in modern crane technologies is not only a matter of increasing productivity, but also taking care of the safety and comfort of our employees’ work. Our projects show how innovative solutions can help optimize production processes and improve working conditions.”
Summary
The implementation of cranes in production processes is a strategic decision that leads to increased efficiency, improved safety and optimised operating costs. Companies that invest in modern crane technologies gain a significant competitive advantage by being able to carry out more complex and demanding projects while maintaining high safety standards and work ergonomics. Thanks to projects such as projects PS Lift, companies can enjoy not only better efficiency but also a higher level of employee satisfaction.
