The scissor crane, also known as a mobile platform or scissor lifter, is a specialized device whose platform is raised and lowered with scissors. The crane is prepared for intensive and long-term work in each company.
This type of solution is most often used to lift and lower heavy loads, as well as to bridge height differences. It is also a proven alternative to elevators – often without the need to build shafts and engine rooms (remember that cranes with a jump higher than 1600mm have security that prevents human access during work of the lift table). The platform can also be used as part of the production line, and with appropriate parameters and performance it acts as an inflating ramp.
A special advantage of mobile platforms is the huge possibility of additional equipment, so that even the boldest design can be performed according to customer’s needs.
That’s what you need to know about hydraulic scissors!
CONSTRUCTION:
The differences in the construction of mobile platforms are due to the adaptation of the model to the needs of their users.
Although scissors can be much different from each other, to build each of them:
– Bottom frame
The lower lift table frame is a support for the entire device. The most important thing would be strong, stiff and stable. It can be placed on the floor or built into the foundation. It can also be equipped with wheels.
– Shears.
They allow vertical movement of the platform. During climb and descent, traffic is uniform, making the cargo safely transported.
– Platform
The size of the platform may vary according to the design.
The platform can be equipped with roller conveyors, rotors, inspection hatch, locks, tilting counters, handling flaps and more.
– Electrical/hydraulic system
The drive consists of an electric motor, hydraulic tank, hydraulic pump, hydraulic cylinder, high-pressure hydraulic cables, electrical control.
– Control unit
The control unit shall be equipped with at least three buttons. It is most commonly found in the control tape, but it can also be placed in the PLC foot control.
WORK:
In order to better understand what a scissor lift really is, you have to first understand how such a device works.
The use of scissors is simple and intuitive.
Once the device is mounted and connected to an existing network, simply place the load on the platform, e.g. via a pallet trolley, forklift or other equipment, then press the appropriate button on the control panel.
By pressing the lifting button on the control tape, hydraulic oil is pressed through the pump into the hydraulic cylinder, and thus the lifting and lift table lift begins.
In turn, pressing the release button opens an electromagnetic valve in the device. The own weight lift table pushes the hydraulic oil back into the tank and the device lowers.
The control is always designed to activate the safety bar at the lift table to prevent further lowering of the lifting table. Also, all buttons on the control tape are made by the “dead-man” method, which means that the operator’s release of one of the buttons immediately interrupts the operation – lifting or lowering.
KEY PARAMETERS:
The selection of the appropriate platform must take into account in particular:
– lifting capacity
– platform dimension
– height in the folded state
– jump – the height of the platform model to be raised.

Breakdown
Scissor lift tables are divided into the following categories:
Workstation lifts
They are used to bridge the differences in height and lift goods with a load capacity of up to 10,000 kg. They own one pair of scissors. The lift shall be carried out with one or two hydraulic actuators.
Double scissor
They have two parallel pair of scissors. They lift a load with a load capacity of up to 10 tons, and all this takes place in two or four hydraulic actuators. They don’t just cancel out. height differences, but they work perfectly as a lifting and carrying system for long and heavy components, used in transport and production.
Double and triple scissor
Application to work between storeys in buildings as an alternative to freight elevators. A load capacity of up to 5,000 kg at a height of up to 6 metres.
Low-profile
A proven solution as a workstation. Models with U-shaped platform, as well as E with additional support in the middle, are dedicated to euro pallets and larger industrial pallets, and can be loaded with a hand pallet trolley due to their design. Flat handle construction (80 mm). It can carry up to 2,000 kg.
Tilting
The patented tilting lift table model ensures positioning of pallets and chest-pallet to optimal height and angle of operation (adjusted by one button). The load capacity is up to 3000kg. The lift tables work at a slope angle of up to 40°.
Loading lifts
Transhipment of all types of vans. The offered cutter cranes are ideal for transport companies that want to streamline and accelerate loading and unloading of goods. Raise the load to 10,000 kg, using two hydraulic actuators.

Use
When should a hydraulic shear lift table be reported to the Technical Inspection Office? Do you need permission to operate this type of crane device?
The scissor lift table is subject to full technical supervision. The mobile type, which is not permanently attached to the floor, e.g. with anchors or in a foundation, is subject to a simplified form of supervision, meaning that it does not need to be reported to the supervising office. As further added: The Technical Surveillance Authority does not provide for additional training in the handling of mobile platforms. In fact, the operator must meet the basic requirements imposed by the employer. It would be very important for the operator to know in detail how to operate the platform before starting work.

Is it safe to operate a scissor lift table operator?
While maintaining safety and compliance with all the procedures in force at the site, the handling of lifting equipment is completely safe. The risk arises only if the employer fails to carry out technical inspections, maintenance or when these devices are badly and over-exploited.It calms the expert.
